Little Xim hosts the Score Challenges and appears at the start line of every Race. He appears to be and sounds like a child or monkey, and, to show his love of races, is always rocking about in a little orange car.
Unlike Big Xam, he makes additional appearances outside of the side-levels. He appears in Get a Grip to teach you about Keys, as well as brief appearances in LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet Karting. In the former, he can be seen near the end of the level Patients are a Virtue and it seems he's been driven mad by The Infection, along with the other LittleBigPlanet characters. In the latter, he appears in LittleBigPlanet (theme). He can also be obtained as an object there, just called "Xim".
Big Xam appears during Survival Challenges, which you keep going until you die. He appears to be an older man and wears blue robe-like clothing, and is a jolly person for he bounces whilst talking. His first appearance is in Tie Skipping.
Role in Story Mode
Neither character plays a major role in the story, but only appear in the side-levels to tell you the rules and differentiate between the two challenge types. Both appear in The Collector's Lair, where they are somehow kidnapped and locked in cages along with the other characters. Little Xim and Big Xam are the first and second characters to be released (excluding the Bears with the key) from their prisons. Doing so will unlock their Prize Bubbles for use in Create Mode.
- Media Molecule has a PlayStation Network ID called LittleXim. Viewing LittleXim's hearted levels will let you visit Media Molecule's favourite community levels.
- Both of their objects fall under "Common" when arranged by theme in the main LittleBigPlanet series, but Little Xim's object in LittleBigPlanet Karting is categorised under "The Gardens".
- Little Xim and Big Xam's eyes are actually stickers of Emitters and are never collected anywhere in story mode.
